Viva La Lexington, Nebraska

Lexington is located in the center of America. Farming land. Hard working farmers who worked sun up to sundown raising beef and growing crops for our dinner table. Making just enough money to keep them going till next year. A town that still has bricks for their street in town. A place where the only fast lane is the express lane at the local WalMart.

Now, I'm afraid it's coming to a close, or at least what it once represented. Tyson packing plant is just about the only game in town. It pretty much dictates how this town lives or dies as a community.

Several years ago, Tyson brought in a large influence of Mexican workers to work in their plant. Now recently, Tyson is bringing in people from Somalia. Perhaps they work cheaper or don't complain about working conditions. I really don't know their Tyson's reasoning. All I can say, it's not the same place I visited years ago or where my wife grew up.

We've driven around the Western United States and have seen houses for sale and repossessed.

I hope the economy picks up and people can get back to work.

Thank you, thank you, thank you

I want to take the time to thank some of the people who helped teach me about art. The young lady that got me thinking I wasn't too old to start and giving me inspiration, "Thanks, T.M.". To Maida and Dona, thanks for sharing your knowledge. Sarah, thanks for the wonderful portrait you painted of me fly fishing. It's hanging on my wall at home and when I look at that, it gives me something to inspire towards.

Well, it's off to Nebraska in the morning. Hopefully the weather will co-operate. we're planning on spending 2 weeks there, then back to Colorado. Pam will leave for Ketchikan around the end of the month and I'll stay here w/ Marty and Tana for awhile longer. Pam is looking forward to seeing her Mom and old friends, I mean ole friends and talk about the good old days. So Peg, she'll be there and so will I to have lunch someplace with you.

No snow in Whale Pass and low 50's.....here it's snowing and mid teens.......what global warming.

We're still in Parker, Colorado just outside of Denver. Having a good time with Grand kids and fun visiting with Tana and Marty. Their business is going good. Take a few art classes, then start heading North. Hopefully there won't be much snow when I head back home. Not sure if I'll head for Indiana this yr. Maybe later when we come back out.

Well, as usual, it's late and need to do a little art work before going to bed.

As you can see from the photo above, I've done a watercolor from a sketch on the right. (I've changed the photo) There's several mistakes in the watercolor. Still, it's my own.

We got some snow today here. Not enough to worry about and certainly nothing to complain about either. The people in the Midwest and East have had more than their share.

Pam and the girls went to the movies today. Sorry, but I just couldn't sit thru the Tooth Fairy.

We're having fun with the girls and wish we lived closer to all our family, but everyone is scattered from Alaska to Texas.

Men and women must be on a different brain wave. My idea of shopping and dinner is certainly different than a woman's.

I enjoy shopping and eating the samples at Costco's. A woman's idea is certainly different.
